PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector for a railway vehicle which can make a capacity of information transmission large, and its reliability high.SOLUTION: An optical connector for a railway vehicle comprises: a light transmission part which transmits an optical signal; a light receiving part which receives the optical signal; a light receiving level value detection part which detects a light receiving level value of the optical signal which is received by the light receiving part; and plurality of light transmission/reception devices each having a comparison/determination part which compares and determines the light receiving level value outputted from the light receiving level value detection part and a prescribed reference value, and outputs a result of the comparison. The light receiving level value of one light transmission/reception device is sent to not only its own comparison/determination part but also the comparison/determination part of the other light transmission/reception device, and each of the comparison/determination parts compares the light receiving level values of at least the two or more light transmission/reception devices out of a plurality of the light transmission/reception devices with the reference value, and determines connection states with oppositely-connected optical connectors and operation states of the two or more optical transmission/reception devices.
