To provide an optical connector with a shield cover which enables not only a photoelectric converting element, but also an electronic component mounted substrate which is fitted in one body to be shielded from an electromagnetic wave and also to radiate heat.
A plug 1 is constituted by fitting a plug main body 2 storing the photoelectric converting element D, the substrate, and an integrated circuit 40, with a plug shield cover 3. A socket 5 is constituted by fitting a socket main body 6 which has a terminal 8 coming into contact with the substrate 4, with a socket shield cover 7. Consequently, when the plug 1 is engaged with the socket 5, nearly the whole of the connector is covered with the covers 3 and 7, which cut off external and internal electromagnetic noises. The cover 3 is brought into contact with the surface of the integrated circuit 40 and a contact piece 73 of the cover 7 is pressed against the cover 3, so that heat from the photoelectric converting element D and integrated circuit 40 can effectively be radiated from the covers 3 and 7.
