To provide a knockdown type optical connector which can be connected correspondingly to both of an optical cable and a primary coated optical fiber.
The optical connector includes: a ferrule 20 having a built-in first optical fiber 200; a grip part 12 for gripping a second optical fiber 102; an optical fiber connection component 40 to one end side of which the ferrule 20 is fixed and which is used for confronting/connecting the first optical fiber 200 with/to the second optical fiber 102; a housing member 88 for housing an assembly of the ferrule and the optical fiber connection component so that the assembly can be moved to the axial direction L against pressing force; and a connection member 30 which is used for connecting the other end side of the optical fiber connection component 40 to the grip part 12 so that the assembly of the ferrule 20 and the optical fiber connection component 40 can be linked with the grip part 12.
