Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector with which a ferrule can be easily assembled without making mistakes.
SOLUTION: The optical connector 1 is equipped with a first ferrule 2a, a second ferrule 2b and a connector housing 30. The first and the second ferrule 2a, 2b are provided with a tubular part 9 for storing the terminal of an optical fiber 6 and with flanges 11a, 11b projecting from the outer face of this tubular part 9. The outer diameter D1 of the flange 11a is larger than that D2 of the flange 11b. The thickness T1 of the flange 11a is smaller than that T2 of the flange 11b. The connector housing 30 is equipped with a pair of first and second storage chambers 16a, 16b. The first storage chamber 16a allows the inserted second ferrule 2b to be pulled out. The second storage chamber 16b controls the entry of the first ferrule 2a.
