Title:
OPTICAL COUPLER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63285978
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To form an optical coupler in which the outputs of photodetectors are preferably equalized by disposing the photodetectors symmetrically with respect to longitudinal and lateral axis directions, connecting photodetector group on the same diagonal line in parallel, and outputting photovoltaic currents from the parallel connections. CONSTITUTION:Photodiodes D1-D4 are so disposed at positions of vertexes of a square as to be symmetrical with respect to the longitudinal and lateral axes (a), (b) of a chip G of square shape on the chip G. These photodiodes D1-D4 are composed of the same structure. The photodiodes on the diagonal line, D1 and D2, D3 and D4 are connected in parallel to produce outputs from two sets of output terminals S-S', T-T'. This connection is conducted by a thick film conductor pattern formed on a substrate placed with electrode wirings of a chip G or the chip G. Since the photodetectors on the diagonal line are connected in parallel and the sum of the output powers of the photodetectors is outputted in this manner, the matching characteristics of the outputs of the photodetectors are improved.
