Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical data storage medium having multiple laminated layers by providing a focusing device for focusing on one selected surface among the plural data surfaces of the optical data storage medium and an optical receiver for receiving return radiations from the medium.
SOLUTION: A controller positions a lens 210 to the zero displacement position. Then, the controller seaks a desired data surface by moving the lens 210 and a peak detector detects the two peaks of focus error signals in respective data layers. The controller makes a motor position the lens 210 so as to make the focus error signal be between the two peaks relating to the data surface. Then, the motor is controlled by using the focus error signal and a zero point focus error signal is searched. Also, the controller adjusts the output of a laser 200, a switch and a multiplex data aberration compensator 212 so as to be appropriate for the data surface.
