Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce noise due to the air coming in and out of the window of the cover of a rotary polygon mirror.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary polygon mirror 1 is concealed with a cover 2, and the cylindrical section 2a of the cover 2 has a window to allow the passage of a laser beam irradiated on the external reflective surface 1a of the mirror 1. The cylindrical section 2a of the cover 2 is eccentric in such a direction as keeping the window 3 away from the mirror 1. Thus, the air flowing out of the window is decelerated due to the loss of a flowrate, while moving away from the mirror 1, and does not generate a high whistling noise with the inner peripheral edge of the window 3.
