PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the reinforcement of a reflecting mirror throughout the life of a lamp without causing a reflection mirror reinforcing organic heat-resistant film coating the rear face of a reflecting mirror to deteriorate due to ultraviolet rays emitted from a high voltage discharge lamp or without causing the film of the reflecting mirror to peel off.
SOLUTION: The optical device has a high voltage discharge lamp unit (1) in which the rear face of the concave reflecting mirror (3) with the high voltage discharge lamp (2), as a light source, disposed on the reflecting face side is coated with the reflecting mirror reinforcing organic heat-resistant film (10). In the optical device, a ultraviolet ray cut layer (11) that cuts ultraviolet rays whose wavelength is at least in the range of 300 to 380 nm is disposed on the light source side of the organic heat-resistant film (10). In addition, a cooling mechanism (14) is disposed in order that the reflecting mirror reinforcing organic heat-resistant film (10) is kept at a heat-resistant temperature or below when the high voltage discharge lamp (2) is on.
