Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the small-sized high modulation and conversion device which enables direct modulation by a laser diode by providing a zigzag optical path, which connects 1st and 2nd reflection parts alternately, between the 1st and 2nd reflection parts.
CONSTITUTION: Plural reflection parts are provided on light-transmissive optical materials which have a 1st and a 2nd opposite surface. The 2nd reflection parts are provided on the 2nd surface opposite the 1st reflection parts provided on the 1st surface. Then the zigzag optical path is provided between the 1st and 2nd reflection parts and connects the 1st and 2nd reflection parts alternately. Windows which transmit light are provided at an end part of the 1st surface and the opposite end part of the 2nd surface. One window is called an incidence window 17 and the other is called an output window 18. Light which is made incident on the light-transmissive optical material through the incidence window 17 passes through the zigzag optical path and is outputted from the output window 18. With this constitution, an optical device which has long optical path, specially, the high modulation and conversion device 10 with high efficiency can easily be obtained.
