Abstract:
PURPOSE:To convert light having nonuniform intensity to exit collimated beams of light having a uniform intensity distribution by dividing the incident collimated beams of light which enter the incident surface of a transparent plate on an incident side at an incident angle to plural collimated beams of light by a partial transmission mirror and total reflecting mirrors. CONSTITUTION:The transmittance of the partial transmission mirror M2 and the relative positions of the total reflecting mirrors M1, M3 and the partial transmission mirror M2 are so determined that the respective elements of the conversion matrix from the incident collimated beams of light to the exit collimated beams of light attains 1/N (where N is the number of division of the incident collimated beams of light by the mirrors M2 and M1, M3) with the transmittance as variable; in addition, equation I and equation II are satisfied. The incident collimated beams of light of the nonuniform intensity incident at an angle alpha on the incident surface of the transparent plate P1 on the incident side is divided to the plural collimated beams of light by the mirrors M2 and M1, M3 and these collimated beams of light are superposed on each other, by which the exit collimated beams of light having the uniform intensity distribution are obtd. from the exit surface of the transparent plate P3 on the exit side.
