To deal with the increase of a recording capacity by securing the sufficient number of times of power adjusting.
A power calibration area composed of a test area for test writing and a count area for recording the used state of the test area is provided in the disk inner peripheral position of an optical disk, and information is recorded while calibrating laser power. In this case, the total number of test areas in the entire disk is increased in proportion to the increase of an optical disk capacity. For example, in the case of an optical disk corresponding to a double density CD format, the total number of test areas is set in the range of 800 to 1200. In addition, a sufficient data domain is secured by setting the size of each test to a minimum, and the number of count areas to a necessary minimum.
