Abstract:
To provide an optical disk reproducing apparatus which can change to a different type of font in an on-screen display even if a plurality of fonts having different types are intermingled on one disk.
The optical disk reproducing apparatus stores font data and font data management information incidental to the font data used to on-screen display in a rewritable nonvolatile flash memory 11, judges the management information, and switches a method for displaying the font data. The optical disk reproducing apparatus can display on the screen with user's desired font, such as not only a bit map font but also an outline font, etc. corresponding to a plurality of types of the front displays, for example, a title display and a menu display.
