Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a optical disk reproducing device of a mark edge recording system capable of performing more accurate reproduction with a smaller error rate by making a slice level optimal when analog information reproduced from an optical disk device is to be binarized.
SOLUTION: For an analog signal reproduced by an optical head, a slice level(SL) as a middle point between a peak value and a bottom value is detected by a peak bottom holder 14 and inputted together with SL to a binarizing circuit 15. Also, an offset value for changing the SL in a plurality of stages is inputted to the binarizing circuit 15 by a SL changing means 20. In the binarizing circuit 15, a predetermined specific pattern is read by the SLs of a plurality of stages and then an error rate(ER) is calculated for each SL by an error rate(ER) calculating means 30. A SL correcting means 40 obtains SL upper and lower limits below a permissible value from the ER and a middle point between the upper and lower limits is used as an optimal SL. Thus, a reproducing condition with less error is secured.
