To effectively reduce uselessly consumed power during information reproducing by utilizing a data temporary storage means.
After data writing in a temporary storage memory is started (a-range), data reading is started at a time when an empty level is exceeded (b-range). The writing of a reproducing signal is continued until a full level is reached and, after the full level is exceeded, the writing is inhibited. Then, data reading is continued until the empty level is reached (c-range). During this time, a track is kicked to position a pickup in a sector for reproducing. In the case of a highlighting command, the normal reproducing of a specified sector is finished in an e-range waiting for rotation in a reproducing state. Then, a highlighting screen is displayed, and date sending from the temporary storage memory is halted (f-range). Then, the power consumption of an unnecessary part is cut until there is a new selection entry.
