To provide an optical element package body and its manufacturing method, improving the rigidity shortage of an optical element while suppressing an increase in the thickness of a liquid crystal display device and suppressing the degradation of display characteristics of the liquid crystal display device.
The optical element package body is provided with: a film-like or sheet-like condensing element; a support body for supporting the condensing element; and a packaging member having a phase difference and wrapping the condensing element and the support body. The condensing element and the support body form a laminate, and the laminate and the packaging member are brought into close contact. The condensing element has: a base material; and a prism sequence provided on one main surface of the base material. The packaging member has: a first region to which light from a light source is incident; and a second region to which light having passed the first region is incident after passing the support body. An optical axis of the packaging member in the second region is in an oblique relationship to the ridge line of the prism sequence of the condensing element.
