Abstract:
To prevent an increase in size of an optical element for pupil expansion.SOLUTION: An optical element 50 comprises: a first hologram element 51 that is provided on one side of a substrate 50a; and a second hologram element 52 that is provided on the other side of the substrate 50a. In front view, the first hologram element 51 is provided to overlap the second hologram element 52. The first hologram element 51 has a first hologram layer 51a that diffracts part of incident light in a first wavelength range and transmits the other part of the incident light in the first wavelength range. The second hologram element 52 has a second hologram layer 52a that diffracts and reflects part of the light in the first wavelength range transmitting through the first hologram layer 51a toward the first hologram layer 51a, and transmits the other part of the light in the first wavelength range transmitting through the first hologram layer 51a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
