CONSTITUTION: An image frame size change means 52 and a variable power optical system are interlockingly controlled so as to satisfy a following relational expression r/R>f/F. Provided that r:the length of the diagonal of the image frame at the time of reducing the image frame size, R;the length of the diagonal of the image frame before changing the image frame(reducing the image frame), f;the focal distance of an image-formation optical system when the length of the diagonal of the image frame becomes (r), and F;the normal shortest focal distance of the image-formation optical system when the length of the diagonal of the image frame is the maximum.
