To improve the taking-out performance of a coated optical fiber ribbon without reducing the side pressure resistance characteristic and the impact resistance characteristic.
A coated optical fiber ribbon 3 having a plurality coated optical fibers trimmed therein is arranged between at least a pair of tension members 5 for optical element, and the width direction of the coated optical fiber ribbon 3 is parallel with a plane (A-A) passing axial centers of respective tension members 5 for optical element, and the coated optical fiber ribbon 3 and the tension members 5 for optical element are coated with a sheath 7 to constitute a long-sized optical element part 9. Since notched parts 11 are provided in both sides of the sheath 7 in the vicinity of perpendicular planes which are perpendicular to the plane (A-A) and are brought into contact with both sides of the coated optical fiber ribbon 3, the taking-out performance of the coated optical fiber ribbon is improved without reducing the side pressure resistance characteristic and the impact resistance characteristic.
