Title:
OPTICAL FIBER CABLE AND OPTICAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001208943
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide optical fiber cables capable of transmitting long distance signal light at a high bit rate even if a temporal fluctuation of temperature or regional difference in temperature.

The embodiment 1 of optical fibers in optical fiber cables of this invention is provided with a center core area, second core area, third core area, fourth core area, and a clad area in this order from the center of the optical axial. The outer diameter are 5.3 μm for the center core area, 14.4 μm for the second core area, 22.2. μm for the third core area, and 44.4 μm for the fourth core area. With the refractive index of the clad area used as a reference, the specific refractive index differences are 0.60% for the center core area, -0.06% for the second core area, 0.24% for the third core area, and -0.06% for the fourth core area. The temperature dependency of the wavelength dispersion of this optical fiber is -0.0005 ps/nm/km/°C.
