Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the deformation of a coating clue to residual stress in the coating by specifying the density, melt index, m.p. and wt. average mol.wt. of a copolymer of ethylene with specified α-olefin.

CONSTITUTION: A PE compsn. contg. linear medium density PE which is a copolymer of ethylene with 4-10C α-olefin is used. The copolymer has 0.928-0.940g/cm3 density, at least 2.5dg/min melt index, 118-127°C m.p. and a wt. average mol.wt. of 80,000-100,000. Much lower shrinkage than the conventional shrinkage is attained and the deformation of a coating due to residual stress can be prevented.
