To provide an optical fiber cable capable of effectively preventing the fiber from being torn by a woodpecker, a crow or a raptor in a manner that increases tearing strength without using metal or plastic which has many problems in being used as a surface coating material.
An optical fiber cable has a protection layer 3 covering an outside of a cable core 1 including a tension member 11 and a coated optical fiber 12. The protection layer 3 has: an outer layer 32 forming a surface of the cable; an inner layer 31 arranged inside the outer layer 32; and a reinforcement layer 33 between the inner layer 31 and the outer layer 32. The inner layer 31 and the outer layer 32 are made of a rubber material and the reinforcement layer is made of a mesh material having higher tearing strength than the rubber material.
