PURPOSE: To make workability good and enable axial alignment to be accomplished surely by forming a reccessed groove which accepts and holds optical fiber ends into a predetermined sectional shape.
CONSTITUTION: When optical fibers 1, 1' are inserted into the recessed groove 20 of a connector 2, the connector 2 restores owing to its elastic force so that the 5 sides except the opening side of the recessed groove 20 formed in a hxagonal shape including the opening part and the sectional circle of the optical fibers both contact. Besides, the two sides 21, 21 on both sides on the upper side press-contact the optical fiber 1 toward the bottom direction of the groove. Here, in the state that the optical fibers 1, 1' are not inserted in the recessed groove 20, the circle formed by enveloping the respective sides is equal to the sectional circle of the fibers or smaller than this. This connector 2 is made of a synthetic resin material having elasticity. Hence, even if all the sides of the recessed groove 20 do not contact the optical fiber circle, the optical fibers are surely connected and grasped.
