Title:
OPTICAL FIBER CUTTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS57108802
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily cut the mirror surface of an optical fiber, by first giving an initial flaw to the optical fiber and then applying the bending tension to the opposite side of the flaw.

CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber cable 5 is put on a plate spring 1 so that an optical fiber 6 rides on an elastic component 7, and then the fiber 6 is pressed light by a finger. Then an arm 3 is pressed, and accordingly the fiber 6 is held between an optical fiber presser 8 and the member 7 to be clamped. Under such conditions, the spring 1 is bent toward the arm 3. Thus a blade 9 hits the fiber 6 to give it the original flaw. Then the spring 1 is bent to the opposite side while pressing hard the cable 5 to the spring 1. As a result, the bending tension is applied to the fiber 6 to cut it.
