Abstract:

To make it possible to integrally and stably polish many pieces of optical fiber cords without increasing in size and without kinking by constituting a polishing jig from a polishing jig plate for holding and fixing ferrules, a holding cylinder for fitting and holding the polishing jig plate and a holding cylinder support for freely rotatably supporting the holding cylinder.

The upper part of the holding cylinder 2 is successively provided with an optical fiber cord housing container 3 provided with an optical fiber cord insertion hole 11 at its base surface via a supporting rod 8. The polishing jig plate 4 set with the ferrules is fitted and fixed into the holding cylinder 2 in such a manner that the end faces of the ferrules press a polishing abrasive stone plate 28. This polishing abrasive stone plate 28 rotate on one direction and the holding cylinder 2 is rotated in the same direction as the rotating direction of the polishing abrasive stone plate 28 on the abrasive stone plate 28 at a prescribed position supported with the holding cylinder supporting body 5 by the torque developed by the friction force between the ferrule end faces and the polishing abrasive stone plate 28, by which the end face polishing of the ferrules is executed.
