Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an optical fiber and its manufacture with high optical coupling efficiency between the optical fiber and a light source and capable of maintaining energy density at a high level even when the light source is a semiconductor laser beam source with rectangular emitting cross-section.
CONSTITUTION: The optical fiber 1 is constituted in such a way that light is made incident from an incident terminal 2 confronting with the light source and it Is emitted from an emitting terminal 3 on the other side, and the incident end face 2 of the optical fiber confronting with the light source with rectangular emitting cross-section is formed in rectangular shape and size in accordance with the light source. The cross-section of an incident terminal part 4 is formed in rectangular shape, and another emitting terminal part 5 side is formed in original cross-section circular shape. and an intermediate part 6 between the incident terminal part 4 and the cross-section circular part is designed so as to be deformed gradually advancing from rectangular shape to circular shape.
