Title:
OPTICAL FIBER MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62138772
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect the intensity of a magnetic field accurately by detecting the disturbance of an optical fiber originating from vibrations, temperature, etc., through the 2nd optical fiber arranged along the 1st optional fiber on a sensor side for the magnetic field and removing the disturbance.

CONSTITUTION: Light emitting and receiving parts 13 and 14 and the magnetic field sensor part 11 are separated and coupled by the 1st optical fiber 9, and the 2nd optical fiber 18 of the same length is arranged along the 1st optical fiber 9; and the disturbance due to temperature, vibrations, etc., that the 2nd optical fiber 18 receives is detected and removed from the detected value of the magnetic field sensor 11 by a computing element 24. Consequently, the intensity of the magnetic field is detected accurately without being affected by the vibrations, temperature, etc., of an optical fiber magnetic field sensor which detects the intensity of the magnetic field by detecting a shift in phase due to the magnetostrictive effect of the optical fibers.
