Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a new optical fiber, capable of reducing pressure inside the hole of a preform tube in a state of fixing a positional relationship of the preform tube and a core rod in the longitudinal direction when integrating them to manufacture a multi-core optical fiber.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an optical fiber comprises: the insertion step of inserting core rods 21-23 into the holes of a preform tube 10; a projection prevention part formation step of forming a projection prevention part for preventing the core rods from projecting from the preform tube on the side of a first end 11 of the preform tube; the pressure reduction step of reducing pressure inside the holes of the preform tube through a support tube 31 connected with the first end of the preform tube; the integration step of heating and softening a second end 12 side of the preform tube under the pressure reduction step to integrate the preform tube and the core rods; and the drawing step of drawing the preform tube and the core rods to manufacture an optical fiber.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
