Abstract:
To perform a measurement of strain or temperature with smaller errors, even when BFS in a reference section changes due to a temperature change in the reference section.SOLUTION: A light source unit generates probe light. A detection unit detects backward Brillouin scattering light that occurs in an optical fiber that is the object of measurement by probe light and acquires the frequency shift amount of backward Brillouin scattering light. A signal processing unit acquires the temperature or strain of the optical fiber from the frequency shift amount. The signal processing unit includes frequency shift amount calculation means and one or both of temperature acquisition means and strain acquisition means. The frequency shift amount calculation means acquires a difference between the frequency shift amount obtained for a reference section and the frequency shift amount obtained for a measurement section. The temperature acquisition means acquires the temperature of the measurement section using the difference. The strain acquisition means acquires the strain of the measurement section using the difference.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
