Abstract:

To provide an optical fiber mechanical property test method capable of imparting a large screening strain only to the optical fiber end.

The optical fiber 1 is held in the projecting state as long as a fixed length L by an optical fiber holding part 2, and the length L of a projecting part 4 is set longer than the distance d between the optical fiber holding part 2 and a flat plate 3, to thereby bring the projecting part 4 into contact with the flat plate 3 in the bent state. A process for changing either or both of the distance d and the length L of the projecting part 4 and revolving the optical fiber holding part 2 is repeated.
