Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-speed and high-speed interchangeable optical fiber which allows the transmission of both of a low-speed signal and a high-speed signal by using the same one optical transmitter.
SOLUTION: The optical fiber 2 includes a first core 4, first clad 8, third clad 12, second core 6 and second clad 10 successively from the central part toward the outer peripheral part. The optical fiber has the two of the first core 4 and the second core 6 as an optical transmission part. The first core 4 has a GI type refractive index and the second core 6 an SI type refractive index. When the refractive indices of the center of the first core 4 and the first clad 8, the second core 6, the second clad 10 and the third clad 12 are respectively defined as n1, n2, n3 and n4, respectively the relations n1>n2>n4 and n3>n4 are satisfied.
