Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the optical fiber with a lens which is small in size, can be easily produced and is fast in response. CONSTITUTION:A holder 4 is fixed to the front end of the optical fiber 2. An optical coupler 6 is aligned and fixed to the optical fiber 2. The optical coupler 6 is constituted of condenser members 6a, 6b and a pair of transparent electrodes 6c, 6d formed on both surfaces of the condenser members. The condenser members are formed by combining a convex lens-shaped member 6a consisting of an electrooptical material and a concave lens-shaped member 6b consisting of a nonelectrooptical material. A voltage controlled from a variable voltage source 8 is impressed to the transparent electrodes 6c, 6d to change the refractive index of the member 6a consisting of the electrooptical material. As a result, the focal length f of the optical coupler 6 can be easily and rapidly changed by the power source voltage according to the position of the spot light source, and therefore, the light from the spot light source can be coupled to the optical fiber 2 regardless of the position of the spot light source.
