To provide a chemically stable optical filter superior in near-infrared absorption performance, heat-ray absorption capability, visual ray transmissive performance and light resistance by having large absorption in a near-infrared light region.
In the optical filter having at least a near infrared absorption on a transparent supporter, the filter layer contains a near infrared pigment expressed in general formula (I) or (II). In the general formulae (I) and (II), R1 and R2 are each an aliphatic group, aryl group or heterocyclic group, and R3 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a univalent organic residual group. B is a 5 or 6 member heterocycles or an organic residual group forming condensation cycles including the heterocycles. L1, L2 and L3 are each a methine group. p is 1, 2 or 3. q is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4. A- is an anion existing in the case that neutralization of charge is necessary. m is 0 or 1.
