To provide an optical flocculating and filtering method by which metal ions and superfine particles smaller than 0.05 μm can be efficiently removed without using ion-exchange resin or an adsorbent or the like which becomes mere waste with adsorption saturation, and to provide a system therefor.
The optical flocculating and filtering system is constituted of: an optical flocculation apparatus 1 which has a light source for irradiating a liquid to be treated with light of ≤0.5 μm wavelength; and a filtering device 2 provided at the downstream side of the optical flocculation apparatus 1. In the optical flocculation apparatus 1, the liquid to be treated is irradiated with light of ≤0.5 μm wavelength to make ions or low molecular substance particulates in the liquid approach each other or flocculate with each other by vibration or resonance. In the filtering device 2, the liquid to be treated containing the flocculate is supplied and the flocculate is caught by a filtering layer 20 in the apparatus.
