The device is provided with a first semiconductor laser element 17A, a second semiconductor laser element 17B, an object lens 19, a dichroic polarizing beam splitter 25 which is provided among the first and second semiconductor laser elements and the object lens, reflects at least a part of a first light beam advancing to the object lens from the first semiconductor laser element and also transmits the first light beam from the object lens, and transmits a second light beam advancing to the object lens from the second semiconductor laser element and also transmits the second light beam from the object lens, and a photodetector 33 which detects the first and second light beams transmitting the dichroic polarizing beam splitter.
