Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent a combining efficiency of a laser beam emitted from a semiconductor laser into a wave guide layer from dropping and to further reduce the size of it.
CONSTITUTION: The shape of a grating coupler 4C guiding the laser beam emitted from a semiconductor laser 8 into the optical wave guide layer 3C is formed to an identical or similar shape to the wave surface shape of the emitted laser beam.
