Title:
OPTICAL HEIGHT SENSOR FOR VEHICLE AND LEVELING SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02151512
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simplify a structure by providing a reflecting optical means having light paths at least partially interrupted by relative movement on a means surrounding two portions relatively moved in the longitudinal direction in a device detecting the height change of a shock absorber or the like.

CONSTITUTION: An air shock (shock absorber) 40 inserted between the vehicle body of an automobile and an axle is provided with opposite fitting brackets 12, 14, a center shaft 16 connected to the bracket 12 and having a piston at the inner end section, an axial cylinder 18 connected to the bracket 14, and a dust cover 22 coaxially surrounding the shaft 16 and the cylinder 18. A pressurizable space 23 between the cover 22, piston 18 and shaft 16 is closed by a rotatable seal 24. One inlet hole 43 is formed on the side face of the dust cover 22, an optical height sensor 42 having emitter-receiver pairs 44, 46 is provided on the hole 43, and it is connected to an integration control module 50.
