Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical image analysis method of brain activities, capable of noninvasively analyzing the activities of the deep brain of a small animal such as a mouse and a rat by an optical method.SOLUTION: The optical image analysis method includes: an administration step of administering red blood cells of a test animal labeled by a near infrared fluorescent pigment in the test animal through the venous circulation; a detection step of, after the administration step, detecting a spatial distribution of near infrared fluorescent intensity in the brain of the test animal using a confocal optical system with the near infrared laser defined as an excitation light source; and a display step of displaying the spatial distribution of the brain activities of the test animal on the basis of the spatial distribution of the near infrared fluorescent intensity detected in the detection step.
