Abstract:
PURPOSE:To allow the well execution of logic computation of input images even at low light intensity by controlling the intensity of two wave coupling at a photorefractive crystal (PR crystal) by the luminous flux having the incident image information on the PR crystal. CONSTITUTION:A luminous flux 2 is made incident on one of the opposite surfaces of the PR crystal 1 and luminous fluxes 5, 6 contg. the image information are projected to the other. The intensity of the energy coupling generated between the two luminous fluxes is modulated. Namely, the PR crystal 1 having the PR effect is so disposed as to increase the reflectivity in the specific direction of the crystal and the logic computation of the input images 5, 6 is optically executed by the light intensity distribution of the output images 9, 11 obtd. by the irradiation.
