To provide an optical information recording medium which enables its recorded data to be reproduced by a laser beam of a shorter wavelength than CD-R or DVD-R, especially a semiconductor laser beam of a wavelength of not more than 440 nm and a wavelength of close to 405 nm with high general-purpose properties and shows outstanding recording characteristics, and an information recording method which records information in a high-density fashion using the optical information recording medium with a recording layer containing a coloring matter which shows high sensitivity to the laser beam of a short wavelength.
This optical information recording medium has a recording layer which records information by a laser beam exposure, formed on a substrate. The recording layer is characterized in that it contains an indolenine compound represented by formulae (I) to (III), provided, however, that in the formulae, V1 to V8 are each a hydrogen atom or a substituting group and may mutually form a ring; Rl to R10 are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; X is an aryl group or a heteroaryl group; and Xl to X4 are each an alkenyl group, an aryl group or a heteroaryl group.
