Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information recording medium capable of recording and reproducing particularly with a short wavelength laser beam having a wavelength of 550 nm or less and having excellent recording characteristics. SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium comprising a recording layer capable of recording information by irradiating it with a laser beam on a substrate, the layer contains a dye compound represented by R1R2C=CR3Φ [wherein R1 and R2 are each independently an electron attractive group having a Hammett substitution constant σp of a range of 0.2 to 0.9, R3 is a hydrogen atom or a substituent, Φ is an aryl group or aromatic heterocyclic group having only the Hammett substitution constant σp of the range of -0.6 to 0.0 in such a manner that any two of R1, R3, R3 and Φ may be bonded to each other to form a ring together with carbon atoms respectively bonded thereto.].
