Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an optical isolator having a high reverse direction loss by using the polarized light separating element of a polyhedron for separating an unnecessary light beam orthogonally to an optical axis, as a polarizer and an analyzer and bringing the surface vertical to the optical axis and the surface where a separated light passes through, of parallel surfaces, to specular grinding and stain finish grinding respectively. CONSTITUTION:As for the polyhedron of a polarizer 3a and an analyzer 3b, surfaces 11a, 11b vertical to an optical axis are brought to specular grinding and coated with a reflection preventive film. Surfaces 12a, 12b where a light beam brought to total reflection transmits through are brought to the stain finish grinding and the light beam is reflected irregularly, and the passing of an optical path of a separated light is decreased remarkably. Therefore, a returning light to a semiconductor laser side is also decreased remarkably, and a satisfactory optical isolator is obtained.
