To provide an optical lens blocking device and blocking method allowing the supply of a bond without needing a blocking ring and accurately controlling the supply quantity (drip) and film thickness of the bond according to an optical lens.
A centering mechanism 13 is provided around a placing table 11 on which a lens blank 1 is installed. The geometric center of the lens blank 1 is to coincide with the center of the placing table 11. Centering of the lens blank 1 is performed by turning a rotary base 36 by driving of an air cylinder 39, and turning three clamping plates 30 arranged around the placing table 11, around a fixed shaft 34. A clamping pin 31 erected on each clamping plate 30 thereby presses an edge surface 1c of the lens blank 1 to perform centering. A predetermined quantity of wax is then dropped on a concave surface of the lens blank 1, and a fixture 2 is lowered to press and spread the wax. When the wax is solidified, the lens blank 1 is blocked by the fixture 2.
