To provide optical members in which a crack (a break of a polarizer) and a delamination (a lift occurring between the polarizer and a protective coat) do not occur on a cut face, and to provide a method of cutting the optical members and a liquid crystal display having an excellent display quality in which the optical members are used.
Such optical members as a polarizing plate, an optical retardation plate, a reflection plate, a half-transmission reflection plate, and a brightness improvement film are so controlled that a dynamic storage tensile elasticity (E') in the stretched axial direction is within 400 to 450 kgf/mm2, and a dynamic storage shearing elasticity (G') in the stretched axial direction is within 150 to 180 kgf/mm2, then the optical members are cut. It is possible that a laminated body which is formed by providing an optical layer or two optical layers other than the polarizing plate on the polarizing plate which is controlled in the above described characteristic range is cut.
