To provide an optical modulator driving device, which has a wide input wavelength range by solving problems of wavelength dependency by driving an optical modulator with a driving voltage amplitude suitable to a wavelength, and an optical transmission device using the same.
The optical modulator driving device, driving the optical modulator equipped with a light signal input terminal to which a light signal to be modulated is inputted, a driving signal input terminal to which a driving signal including an electric signal for imposing intensity modulation on the light signal to be modulated is inputted, and a light signal output terminal for outputting the intensity modulated light signal of the light signal to be modulated, is equipped with an optical modulator driving circuit which can vary the driving voltage amplitude level of the driving signal according to an output amplitude control signal, a wavelength information acquiring means of acquiring wavelength information on the light signal to be modulated, and a control circuit having a function of outputting the output amplitude control signal for controlling the output amplitude of the optical modulator driving circuit to a specified output amplitude value at which the modulating performance of the optical modulator previously prescribed with measurement data etc., is guaranteed according to the wavelength information.
