Abstract:

To provide an optical module for a headlight in which both of a dip beam and a high beam can be generated without using a masking screen.

The optical module for a headlight of an automobile is provided with a main optical element having at least one main light source LP formed of one or more of light emitting diodes and at least one light projection system and a secondary optical element having at lease one secondary light source which generates a secondary optical beam and has a shape of a light emitting diode Ls1. Light generated by the secondary light source is directed in the direction of the light projection system and all the light generated by the secondary light emitting diodes are directed so as to be associated with at least one secondary reflecting or diffusing element M which can be displaced substantially, and the secondary reflecting or diffusing element prevents substantially an interference of light generated by the main light source LP.
