Abstract:
To provide a method for manufacturing an optical module which can reduce loss of light, and the optical module.SOLUTION: The method for forming an optical module includes the steps of: arranging an end of an optical fiber 30 so that the longer direction will extend in a direction not in parallel to the normal direction of the light receiving surface 26 of a light receiving part 25; applying an optical transmitting resin 41 on a resin arrangement region 40 including the light receiving surface 26 of a photoelectric conversion element 20; and curing the optical transmitting resin 41 in a state in which the optical transmitting resin 41 is in contact with the light receiving surface 26 and one end of the optical fiber 30. The photoelectric conversion element 20 has a step part 17 recessed in a direction opposite to the direction which the light receiving surface 26 faces, when the element moves from the resin arrangement region 40 to the outside of the resin arrangement region 40 in at least a part of the edge of the resin arrangement region 40. The application step performs the application so that the optical transmitting region 41 stops at the edge of the step part 17.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
