Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize an optical module by enabling compact mounting even when an etalon is mounted.SOLUTION: The optical module is so configured that a variable wavelength laser is formed by an optical waveguide having a wavelength adjusting means and a light reflecting means provided on a substrate and a gain element, part of guided light diffracted on the front and back surfaces of a substrate by a diffraction grating provided in an optical path of the optical waveguide is received by a light receiver through an etalon, and another part of the guided light diffracted on the front and back surfaces of the substrate is received as it is by another light receiver.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
