Title:
OPTICAL OSCILLATOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3460724
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a continuously sweeping optical oscillator which can be tuned electrically for sweeping frequencies over a prescribed band width.
CONSTITUTION: Acoustooptical tunable filters F1 and F2 are arranged in the feedback route of an optical oscillator. The filters F1 and F2 make the oscillator to be selectively tuned by non-collinearly diffracting optical signals. In this one, embodiment, the optical signals pass through a single filter twice in single transmission which circulates the feedback route. In another embodiement, light passes through the pair of filters F1 and F2 which are arranged so as to offset the frequency shift caused by one filter by that of the other filter.
