Abstract:
PURPOSE: To realize an optical parametric circuit for separating strong exciting light, light mixed with four light waves and signal light to different ports.
CONSTITUTION: This optical parametric circuit has an optical nonlinear medium 12 for inducing a cubic optical parametric effect, an optical coupler 20 of two inputs and two outputs, a first optical waveguide 21 having a length L1 and propagation constant K1(ω) and a second optical waveguide 22 having a length L2 and propagation constant K2(ω). The lengths and propagation constants of the respective optical waveguides 21, 22 have a prescribed relation. The light beam of the amplified carrier angular frequency ωs and the light beam of the carrier angular frequency ωf(=ωp1+ωp2-ωs) are emitted from the first input port (1) of the optical coupler 20 and the light beams of the carrier angular frequencies ωp1, ωp2 are emitted from the second input port (2) of the optical coupler 20 when the light beam of the carrier angular frequency ωs is made incident from the first input port (1) of the optical coupler 20 and the light beams of the carrier angular frequencies ωp1, ωp2 are made incident from the second input port (2).
