Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an optical pick-up and to improve productivity by guiding light from a plurality of light sources being accommodated in the same package to nearly the same light path via an optical member that is constituted of a plurality of optical elements.
SOLUTION: A package 20 has a light source 2 for emitting light for a high- density optical disk 18, a light source 9 for emitting light for a low-density optical disk 19, and a substrate part 20a where a light reception means 21 and the like for receiving light being reflected from a storage medium are placed and a side wall pan 20b. An optical member 22 is joined to an opening 20d of the package 20 by such adhesive as joint glass and adhesive resin, thus sealing space where the light sources 2 and 9, the light reception means 21 and the like are arranged. An optical member 22 is constituted of a plurality of optical elements such as a diffusion angle conversion means consisting of hologram, a filter, a polarization separation film, a 1/4 wavelength film, and a plurality of beam formation means, thus guiding light from the light sources 2 and 9 to the high/low-density disks 18 and 19, respectively, via a partially common light path and guiding returning light after reflection to the light reception means 21.
